All About the Android

Android is an operating system by Android Inc. but now owned by Google. Touch screen gadgets such as Tablet PCs and smart phones use this Linux-based operating system. According to Wikipedia, there is a team which is called the Android Open Source Project (AOSP) which does the job of writing applications or more popularly known as "apps". A lot of smartphone and Tablet PC users also patronize the Android applications as evidenced by the 25 billion downloaded applications from Google Play, so numerous because as of September of this year there are already 675,000 available apps that you can choose from.

The latest Android platform is called the Android 4.1 or the Jellybean. The latest Android has many improved features. The features that stood out is the voice activated Google search, this feature will let you search the web with your voice and it will talk back with the answer. The face unlock feature in the Jellybean is even better compared with the Ice Cream Sandwich, now, for added security you can now have the option in requiring a "blink", so that the device can verify if a real person is unlocking your phone or Tablet PC rather than just a picture.

Now for the fun and the essential part, Androids best applications. Here are five apps that i think is essential for you to have.
1. Avast! Mobile Security - in browsing and surfing the web, having mobile security is a must. The Avast! Mobile Security is free and it has a features, to name a few, a battery manager, Safe Web browsing.
2. Pulse News - the day would seem incomplete when your coffee won't be partnered with the news. Pulse can be downloaded for free.
3. Google Translate - if you're a traveler then this app is for you. It translates over 64 languages and here's the best part, it actually dictates it loudly, so you can know how to pronounce the word!
4. Instagram - this app used to be exclusive to iPhone users but now android users can download this famous app. You can take pictures and apply cool effects.
5. Bump - this app is unique and cute. All you have to do is tap two phones together in order to share photos, contacts and apps.
